The thirteenth season of the 1 Piece anime serial titled "Impel Downwards" ( インペルダウン , Inperu Daun ), was produced past Toei Animation, and directed past Hiroaki Miyamoto based on Eiichiro Oda's manga by the aforementioned name. It deals with the imprisonment of Luffy'southward blood brother Portgas D. Ace and Luffy'southward try to infiltrate the not bad prison Impel Down to save him. Luffy meets several old enemies from his by in this arc, including Buggy the Clown, Mr. 2 (Bon Clay), and Mr. 3. There is also a 4 episode arc set outside the current continuity titled "A Golden King of beasts's Appetite" (金獅子の野望 Kinjishi no Yabō), which serves as a prologue to the concurrently released Ane Piece Film: Strong World. This arc features Luffy and his crew's run-in with a grouping of pirates hired past Shiki, the movie's main adversary. Following this arc, the Impel Down story line continues where it had left off.

The flavour began dissemination on Fuji Television on October 18, 2009 and concluded on June 20, 2010, totaling 35 episodes. This flavour'south beginning was announced in the One Slice Motion picture 10 Guide Book, "I Piece-Pia".[1] The season was released through DVD compilations; the first ii were released on June 1, 2011.[2] [iii] The last two DVD compilations were released on September 6, 2011.[4] [5]

The season used two pieces of theme music. The showtime opening theme, titled "Share the Globe" by TVXQ continues to be used for the start of the season. The second opening theme, starting from episode 426 onwards, is "Kaze o Sagashite" ( 風をさがして , lit. "Search for the Wind") performed by Mari Yaguchi with the Straw Hats.[half-dozen]

In North America, the flavour was recategorized as the end of "Season Vii" and the opening of "Flavor Eight" for its DVD release by Funimation Amusement. The Australian Season Vii sets were renamed Drove 35 through 38.
